The GenII 485I isolated RS485 Comms plug protects the S485 chip sets on the Genesis II Digital Controller against medium level spikes, or transient earth problems between Genesis devices.

Prevents 'earth loop' problems on the Net and Global comms channels.
Isolation prevents earth fault currents from other equipment flowing through the Genesis II DDC (Digital Direct Controller) comms cables.

The GenII 485I is a plug in solution to provide isolated RS485 communications between Genesis devices on a network.

Protection Level
The device itself typically withstands 1400V RMS across the isolation barrier for one minute, or 130V RMS continuously in a non-condensing atmosphere.

Application Notes
The GENII 485I isolated RS485 Comms plug is designed for applications where the earth potential between the Genesis II Digital Controllers’ is greater than 3 or 4 volts or where there is a risk of the differential earth voltage creating a dangerous condition.
